She was glad when he put his weight on her, half expecting him to try and move himself on his own. His weight wasn’t much for her to carry, being a werewolf and all. Though it probably would have been quicker for her to just pick him up and carry him inside herself, but, she would let him keep his dignity. When he was completely out of the vehicle, Twilight started walking forward, in a hurry to be in the safety and privacy of her home. They hobbled along the sidewalk to the front of her house. Steps led to the door. She grimaced slightly. These would probably hinder their journey. Twilight got a better grip on Heinrich, then with a grunt, vaulted up onto the porch. She didn’t have the patience to try and get him up the short steps into her house.
Twilight nodded at his request, an odd expression on her face. She could think of only one place in her house that had plenty of water.
”Well, into the bathtub you go.” Twilight said solemnly, keeping a straight face despite the absurd situation. She yanked the door open, and then pulled herself and Heinrich through the opening. They exited the parlor room and turned down a hallway. Four furry bodies were in the way though as she tried to rush Heinrich to the bathroom.
” Voraus!” Twilight commanded, and the dogs fled the hallway. The distance was short from here to the bathroom. Almost there… Twilight rushed because she knew Heinrich was in pain, not because she feared he would die. It was harder to kill a vampire then one would think. She would know.
Pulling the bathroom door open, Twilight almost leaped through it. She set Heinrich, more gently this time, on the toilet seat. Jerking the jacket back in place, she now attended to the empty bathtub. Not knowing whether hot or cold water was needed, Twilight turned the tap all the way on cold. Water gushed forth, filling the bathtub slowly but surely.

With Twilight's help, Drake made it from the Humvee to the house, grunting in surprise when she hauled him up the steps unexpectantly. She opened the door, and yanked him through the doorway.
She helped him through the house, out the parlor room and down a hallway, into the bathroom. Her pace was quite quick, and a sarcastic comment arose in Drake's mind. He surpressed it though. He didn't want to be dropped again.
It was a bit odd, or so he felt, that Twilight took him to the bathroom. When he had asked the question, he had figured she would just grab him a glass of water, and he'd have to reexplain. But it seemed as if she had some instinct as to what he meant. ZFor this, Drake was thankful.
Entering the bathroom, Twilight helped Drake down onto the toilet seat, and turned to tend to the tub. Again, it seemed she had an uncanny instict as to what he needed, as she began filling the tub with ice cold water. Good, another thing he wouldn't have to explain.
As the tub filled, Drake glanced at Twilight, before speaking.
"Hey, Twilight. I got to thank you for this... It's not exactly a common occurence for a werewolf to help me. I owe you big for this." He paused, and looked at the swiftly filling tub. "Look, I think I can handle it from here... I very much doubt you want to be in here when I deal with the wound, am I right?"

Twilight looked at Drake when he spoke. It seemed backwards and foreign to hear a vampire thank her for something, at least while being serious. Sarcasm seemed to be popular with vampires. She nodded, accepting his thanks with this small gesture. Hopefully she wouldn’t need to call on him for owing her. That would mean she couldn’t take care of something herself, which wasn’t a pleasant train of thought. It was nice to know that someone had your back in an emergency. Usually a friend would be this someone. Where she and Heinrich friends?
A curious look crossed Twilight’s face. How vampires tended their wounds was a mystery to Twilight. Generally, whenever she ran into mysteries, she tried to solve them. Drake might want his privacy though. ”Well… it depends on what that includes... But maybe you can explain this at a later time. After I’m finished… I’ll check on you.” Twilight said. A knock on the door would suffice for a check-up if he wasn’t finished yet. But this she was firm about. The way she spoke didn’t leave him much of an option whether to be checked up on or not. He was in her house, so he would play by her rules. When the doorway to the bathroom was breached by a curious and watchful Thor head, Twilight turned to leave. She walked over to the shepherd, placing a hand on his head. Before she left, Twilight looked over her shoulder at Drake.
”Let me know if you need anything.” Twilight insisted, then left, closing the door softly in her wake. No guest in her house would be in need if she could provide it, even a vampire guest.

Drake smiled. ”Of course Twilight. I doubt I’ll need anything else, but thanks.” When Twilight left, closing the door behind her, Drake undressed, taking care to not agitate his wound. Once undressed, the vampire rummaged through the pockets of his clothing, taking out a rather large switchblade. Satisfied with his find, Drake stepped into the ice-cold water, and sunk in. It was easier than he expected, as he only experienced a slight stab of pain as his body bent into the water.
Now in the tub fully, Drake shifted to get a better look at his wound. It was as he suspected. The wound was a ragged tear, directly across his side, where the bullet had glanced him. On the edges of the wound, the skin was burnt, charred, and blackened. The phosphorous did in fact have the desired effect against his kind, Drake noted with disgust. Aside from the burn, Drake noticed a small piece of metal sticking out of the wound. A shard of the bullet, Drake noted with alarm. The shot had been closer than he had thought at first.
Now presented with his task, Drake flipped the switchblade up from its hilt, revealing the extremely sharp silver sharp blade. Without any hesitation, he plunged the blade into his side, next to his wound. He grunted as it passed through his skin, but ignored the pain, and began cutting away the charred edges of his skin away from his body. As he worked, Drake’s pain level became increasingly hard to bear, though he did, knowing that only this could result in the wound healing. Otherwise, the burnt skin would remain that way for a very, very long time.
Finally, he was finished. Drake pulled the blade from his side with another grunt, and closed it, before tossing it onto his clothes. He began washing his wound with the water, to clean off what loose parts of skin remained. When he was finished, he stood from the water, and snatched a towel from the holder, hoping Twilight wouldn’t mind him using just any towel.
Now dry, the vampire began to get dressed. As he was pulling on his shirt, he stopped, noting the tear where the bullet had ripped through. Drake frowned. This was one of his best shirts too… it would be quite an annoying task to sew it back together. He drew it over his head anyways.
With his wound taken care of, and fully clothed once again, Drake stared in the mirror at his reflection. His hair was a mess… something that would not do. At all. If nothing else, his hair would need to remain perfect! So, he began to play with his hair, trying his best to fix it without the assistance of a comb. Hopefully, he’d be done before Twilight came to check on him…[/size]

After shutting the door behind her, Twilight paused outside the door, listening. When she heard the soft sound of clothes sliding against skin and knew he was undressing, she left. Twilight walked to the kitchen, four furry bodies following her curiously. A wet nose pressed against her thigh, and she put a hand on whoever’s head it belonged to. It was Thor. Twilight knelt down beside the massive dog, cupping his face in her hands. She stared into his eyes for a moment, wishing he would understand her if she spoke. Twilight sighed, and stood up. Walking over to the refrigerator, Twilight opened the hesitant door, peering inside. There wasn’t much, but Twilight grabbed a bowl of leftover spaghetti. Now grabbing a fork, Twilight headed out of the kitchen, through the hall, and up the stairs to her bedroom.
Four dogs scrambled up the stairs behind her, pausing occasionally so as not to run into their master as she slowly climbed the stairs. She reached the top and headed left. Meeting a wall in front of her, Twilight turned to the right and reached for the doorknob in the dark. Finding it, Twilight twisted the elderly handle and pushed the door away from her. Still standing outside the threshold of her room, Twilight shrugged off the Ravenwood jacket, letting it fall to the floor. The scent of the Ravenwood human that wore it still lingered on the fabric. She didn’t want that foul think in her room.
Now parted with the jacket, Twilight stepped into her room. Thor, Ajax, Chyene and Perri ambled politely in after her. Once everyone was in, Twilight shut the door but didn’t bother to lock it. Heinrich would probably be busy for a while and he had better manners than to just walk in anyways. A robe lay in a pile on the floor by her bed, and Twilight scooped it up and slid it on. Twilight sighed contentedly, finally decently clothed. Now going to the closet, Twilight grabbed another outfit and brought the arm-full to the bathroom that connected to her bedroom.
After a quick, five minute shower, Twilight ditched the robe for a loose t-shirt and a pair of cut-off sweats. The clothes were well worn, but had a sense of comforting familiarity to them. She briskly rubbed a towel over her hair, drying it somewhat, but it not hung in messy waves. Twilight ran her fingers through it to get rid of knots, but she gave up quickly, deciding not to care about the state of her hair. Before shifting into wolf form, Twilight hadn’t put on any makeup, so her face was clean of black smudges around her eyes from mascara or eyeliner. Twilight’s acne had long disappeared, so even when she went out, no concealer was needed for her face. Overall, Twilight looked like she was ready to spend the night in, not like she had a guest.
The whole time she was getting cleaned up, her pack of four had followed her closely, a little concerned with the presence of the male vampire. This was better than sitting outside the bathroom door waiting for Heinrich though. Finished getting cleaned up, Twilight trotted down the stairs. She walked down the short hallway to the bathroom, standing outside the door. Resisting the urge to simply walk in, Twilight merely put an ear against the door, listening. Satisfied that Heinrich was fine, Twilight leaned her back against the wall, sliding down to sit on the floor. Her ‘pack’ laid down around her in the hall, except Thor. He sat next to Twilight, between her and the bathroom door. His back was facing her and the black guardian stared intently at the door, listening as well.
When the sounds coming from the bathroom turned from the gentle splashing of water in the tub, to those of clothes sliding against skin again, Twilight stood up. Thor immediately jumped up as well, and followed to stand beside Twilight. After giving the vampire a few moments to get dressed, Twilight knocked on the door, announcing her presence. She turned the knob and opened the door. Heinrich stood there, trying to fix his hair in the mirror. An amused smile spread across Twilight’s face as she leaned against the door jam, waiting for him to finish.

... but as it turned out, he wouldn't be that lucky. A knock, followed by the turn of the door handle, announced Twilight's arrival. Drake turned to the werewolf, hands still attempting to flatten his hair. After about a half minute, he sighed and gave up, hands falling to his side. He spoke, finally.
"Thanks, again. I said this already, but I owe you one for this. I don't know any werewolves that would help a guy like me, let alone any vampire. Its nice to know an American werewolf has the patience to deal with one of my kind. People like you are a rare sight out here."
As he finished, Drake looked down at Thor, and smiled. "Well hello there. Thor, ain't it? You're coping well with me here, I see." Not many dogs liked him, which was something Drake resented. Dogs were his favorite animal, and they had been since his days as a heirling count. Having his favorite animal hate him hurt almost as bad as the loss of a lover, both of which Drake had experienced.

Drake continued to mess with his hair even after Twilight opened the door and he turned toward her. She kept the amused smile as she watched him fuss with it. He didn’t keep it up long though, and gave up with a sigh. When he was finished, Twilight stood up straight when he started speaking, no longer leaning on the door-jam. He thanked her yet again, and Twilight shrugged.
”You’re welcome. And hopefully I never have to hold you up to that.” Twilight said. With a small smile on her face, Twilight stepped toward Heinrich, reaching out to tousle his hair lightly.
”And your hair looks fine, so stop fretting.” Twilight chuckled. She didn’t make a comment on his praise, feeling a simple ‘thank you’ wasn’t adequate. Also, she wasn’t used to praise, and wasn’t completely sure how to react to it. This made her slightly uncomfortable, not knowing how to react to something. Twilight brushed that off though, not wanting to dwell on that.
Drake now turned his attention to Thor, and Thor looked back at him. The big canine stood up, and after a quick glance at Twilight, went forward to sniff the vampire. The vampire smelled unpleasant to the dog, but he didn’t sense anything that should make him suspicious of the male. He stepped back, and went to Twilight’s side again. Though he would still be on the alert, Thor wasn’t going to be hostile toward the vampire.

Drake smiled. He too hope not to have to be forced into a situation where he would need to repay Twilight's kindness... But he doubted that would happen. Chances where, at least with Ravenwood as close as he feared, that he would.
But that would happen when it happened... so until then, Drake would hope just like Twilight.
When Twilight stepped forward, and messed with his hair, Drake almost drew back. He had nothing to fear from her, obviously, but insticts never left. He controlled it barely, not wanting to seem uncomfortable, as he actually was. In fact, the gesture made Drake quite glad. It made friendship with the werewolf that much closer. Where they friends though? True, actual friends? Maybe... over time, he'd discern that.
Thor moved towards him, sniffing. Drake smiled at the dog, not moving a muscle as Thor checked for any negative signs from him. As the dog drew back, obviously satisfied, Drake turned back to Twilight. He waited for her to speak, not knowing how to proceed himself.

Twilight thought she saw Drake stiffen when she stepped forward, but didn’t think much of it. She would have reacted similarly had she been in his position. Twilight was usually close to her friends physically as well emotionally, which she blamed on her wolfen instincts for physical contact from those you care about. And oddly, she was comfortable around Drake. Well, as comfortable as she could be around vampires. Maybe they were friends after all. She didn’t know how Drake felt about their somewhat tense relationship, but Twilight would call it friendship from now on, at least on her side.
Drake didn’t move, and Twilight smiled approvingly. Most people wanted to go bend down and pet him when he approached people. If Thor wasn’t so disciplined, this would earn them a swift warning bite or nip. When Thor was done, Drake turned toward Twilight, not sure what was next. Twilight sighed.
”Well, it’s getting late. You can stay here for the night if you want, or I can take you home. Either way is suitable for me” Twilight said. The neighbors would probably have a fit if they knew a man had spent the night at her house, but she would deal with them later. Twilight had a spare bedroom Heinrich could use, so she left the decision up to him.

Drake was surprised by Twilight's offer. She was willing to let a vampire stay in her house? Astonishing! Obviously, her tolerence for vampires far exceeded what he had thought. And, that was hard, as Drake figured she had quite a high tolerence for them.
A quick debate in his head played out as Drake figured his decision. Mind made up, he spoke.
"Well... I surpose I could stay. After all, those mercenaries might not have been the only ones. They could potentially be staking out my place. And, besides." Drake paused, and smiled at Twilight. "I'm not sure when I'd have the oportunity to spend time with company such as yourself."

Twilight nodded at his answer, satisfied. The possibility that Ravenwood was at his house was a good enough excuse anyways. It made more sense to go after Heinrich somewhere private, but Twilight had a lurking suspicion they would do whatever it takes to get rid of immortals. Twilight felt a mixture of annoyance and admiration at the bravery of the humans, however stupid it may be. How they thought they could get rid off all immortals puzzled her.
She jerked herself out of her thoughts when Drake made a comment about spending time in her company. She blinked once in surprise. Though she knew Drake didn’t mind werewolves, it still surprised her to hear him say he wanted to spend time with her. Well, I guess that is what friends do, spend time with each other. Twilight told herself, her thoughts slightly scathing, scolding herself for being surprised.
”Alright, we’ll get your room set up.” Twilight said, returning his smile. She didn’t know what he needed or wanted for a room comfortable enough to sleep in, so while she headed down the hall, she looked back over her shoulder at him
”You can sleep in my guest room. It has a queen bed… hopefully it will be long enough for you.” Twilight said, eyeing his height for a moment. Then they were at the door of the room. Twilight opened the door, and walked in. She waved a hand around the room. It wasn’t huge, but it would work. Simply furnished, the bed was fully stocked with sheets and a new-looking comforter. The colors were warm, homey.
”There are extra blankets in the closet if you need them” Twilight said, pointing to a closet in the corner. She then went over to the dresser, and pulled out the drawers. They were also fully stocked, but with men’s clothes. The clothes the drawers held were all comfortable and loose, good for sleeping in.
”If you want to change, here’s some clothes too. You should be able to find something that will fit.” Twilight said. She didn’t offer an explanation for the clothes, even if it was odd to have a single woman with enough clothes for a man to also be living there. Twilight waited, wondering what Heinrich would do next.

Twilight seemed satisfied with his answer, and began to lead him down the hallway, to the guest bedroom. Upon their arrival, Twilight opened the bedroom door and walked in, and Drake followed right behind her.
Sweeping the room with his eyes, Drake smiled. It was perfect. He listened as Twilight gave him a quick rundown on the room, nodding when she mentioned the blankets. As she opened the dresser drawers, his eyebrows rose. For a second, Drake almost asked what exactly she needed so much men's clothing for, but chose not to. It was none of his buisness, after all. Perhaps she had family who stayed at times.
With the mini tour now finished, Twilight simply stood, looking at Drake. Obviously, she was waiting for his next move. So, he offered up a few words.
"Thanks for letting me stay, Twilight. I know that this is... quite a risk your taking. I have to say, I respect how much trust your giving to me."

From the vampire’s smile, she assumed the room was satisfactory. This brought a spark of pride from Twilight that her guests found her home comfortable. Drake’s eyebrows rose at the appearance of the men’s clothing. He didn’t say anything though, and Twilight shrugged, deciding to explain the slightly suspicious clothes.
”I like to keep extra clothes on hand in case I have any werewolves stop by in need of clothes.” Twilight said, a small smile on her face. Having extra clothes on hand for Nix was what the supply was mostly used for. If Twilight got any more males in her pack, she would probably have to stock up again on different sizes. For now though, the clothes would fit just about everyone, being large enough to even accommodate Nix’s +6ft. Drake then thanked her again, and she shrugged.
”Again, you’re welcome. And thank you. Need all the respect I can get these days” Twilight said with a nod at his respect and a small chuckle. She stood for a moment in the room, then waved to the clothes.
”I’ll be in the living room if you need me. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.” Twilight said, with a smile. With that, Twilight edged around Drake, and out of the room. Once she was out of the room, Twilight sighed tiredly, and rolled her shoulders. She took a quick trip to the kitchen, setting a kettle on the stove for some tea. Once done with that, Twilight headed to the living room. The four dogs had followed her out, and as she lounged on the sofa, the sidled up against the couch, wanting to be near her.

Drake smiled at Twilight's unexpected explanation. Close enough to what he had guessed.
Nodding as Twilight informed him she would be in the living room, Drake glanced back at the drawers of clothes. Might as well... couldn't hurt to look. Twilight left, and Drake closed the door behind her. He walked to the drawers, and began rummaging for something that suited his tastes, and fit him. He found a nice black shirt, which actually fitted him quite nicely.
Satisfied, Drake walked to the door, opened it, and began following Twilight's scent trail into the living room. Upon his arrival, Drake saw her on the couch, near her dogs. He smiled. "I had a quick question, Twilight..."

After relaxing on the couch a few moments, Twilight closed her eyes sleepily. It had been a long night. Twilight reached a hand over the edge of the sofa, gently stroking whoever’s head was closest. It happened to be Ajax this time, and the dog leaned into the petting contentedly. Twilight now let her mind wander, reviewing the scenes from tonight, wondering how much sleep she will get tonight, how early 6:30am would be tomorrow morning.
Nearing foot-falls broke her musing though, and Twilight looked up to watch Drake approach her. The vampire had changed shirts. The fit was perfect, Twilight noticed with satisfaction. She sat up, and Ajax and Cheyenne made room for her legs that now draped over the couch. Heinrich then spoke, saying he had a question for her.
”Shoot.” Twilight said, curiosity in her tone. She looked over at a comfortable chair near the couch, waving her hand at it in an invitation for him to sit down.
