Week one
Where had the day gone? The whole morning had been eaten up by the viscous stress that plagued Vara's thoughts. It was tough watching out for a human 24/7. Although half of her attention was devoted to keeping one ear and one eye out for any trouble Vara had no problem with following along with the lessons for each class. She had done all of this many times over and not a lot had changed in the recent decades. The students were almost all the same with only a few minor exceptions. Vara rolled her eyes at when she thought about whom those exceptions pertained to.
When she and Elizabeth had first made their entrance into the school, earlier that morning, they received exact response that Vara had expected. Stares, whispered, glares, giggles, and of course the occasional drop of the jaw. Sure, she tried to fit in as best she could but there was no mistaking the perfection of her frame nor the fluid grace in which she moved. Her radiant alabaster white skin seemed to glisten in the florescent lighting overhead in all of the hall ways and class rooms. She was like a cat among pigs.
Vara had a different kind of beauty than the rest of the population and every human within the vicinity knew it.
Though little of her attention was paid to any of the student. Vara was much more concerned with the familiar faces that she assumed would show up, eventually.
Lunch could not come soon enough. As much as she loved listening to a mundane teacher monotonously instruct the class in the proper way to organize a research paper, for the thousandth time, she'd rather be elsewhere. Vara was rather unamused now and her eyes now searched for a new entertainment. She had studied her teacher enough to remember every fine line in that woman's face and every discoloration of her skin, from freckles to age marks. It was time to turn to the classmates. . .
