History: Uyreu Clarke was born in Wolverton, UK on November 17, 1995. Her parents raised her like the normal human she was but were keeping a secret from her. They were both werewolves. They both agreed not to tell Uyreu about their difference until she was thirteen and to never shift again if they could possibly bear it. She went through elementary school slowly, to slowly for her parents. Three days before Uyreu’s graduation from elementary school, Uyreu was overrun with excitement, bouncing in her seat as was every other child in that class. Back at her house her mother and father sat rigidly on the weaved couch, quietly discussing exactly how they would tell Uyreu that there were werewolves living in her own house. Suddenly, a crash was heard and a flashlight illuminated the dark living room. A rifle was aimed at the both of them. After an unspoken glance, they shifted to their werewolf forms. They lunged for the rifle bearers, but not before two shots were fired. Uyreu and her grandmother came home to an empty house that night.
After the devastation of what happened had past, Uyreu and her new guardian, her grandmother, set to planning her thirteenth birthday party. She requested that only Lauren, her best friend, and other family came to the event. The party was a success. It was a time to laugh and be with close family and friends. As the adults were visiting and drinking coffee, Uyreu and Lauren decided to go explore the “Forbidden Woods” as Uyreu called it. Her parents had forbidden her to go in there for fear of enemy werewolves. The girls strolled though the woods, and heard a growl. And another behind them. And more to the left and right of them. Dark tawny and black shapes crept up, surrounding them. Uyreu shook as she realized that Lauren was not beside her. In the corner of her eye she saw a jet black shape, lunging for her. Its weight landed on her black and bit down on her shoulder. Pain seared through her as the other wolves stalked toward her. Suddenly there was a gun shot, followed by a whimpering sound. Uyreu barely felt the arms lifting her up in her cloud of pain. Her grandmother appeared out of the tree line, carrying Uyreu. She whispered to Uyreu’s Uncle Raksa who had flown over from America, “She has been bitten.”
When Uyreu woke up a few days later, she realized that the pain was gone but also that she was in a hospital. She glanced to her side and she saw her grandmother. Her grandmother eyes brimmed with tears unshed. She said with great regret, “You are now like your parents…” Uyreu’s eyes filled with confusion. Her grandmother explained why she was never allowed in the woods. She explained about werewolves and even about vampires. Uyreu just sat in silence. A nurse came in, did some tests and proclaimed that she was good to go. She walked out with her grandmother on unsteady legs. She was still shocked about what her grandmother told her. On her first day of middle school, Uyreu was sitting in the far left corner of her playground area. A group of the “cool kids” sauntered over to where she sat reading her science book. “Hey!” One of the kids called, “Are you waiting for your mommy to pick you up? Oh, wait, you don’t have a mommy do you? Or a daddy?” Anger seared through Uyreu. And then, she shifted into a large, black wolf with white on her paws and tail. “YAHHHHH!” The group scattered. Uyreu lunged for the boy who taunted her. She landed on his back and flung him to the ground. Growling in her fury, she took a bite out of him. And another. And another. Suddenly she realized what she was eating. She jumped back in surprise. The kids on the other side of the playground crept over to see what was going on. Uyreu sprinted for her home, hoping that no one saw the tail vanishing through the trees, and wishing that the boy she had wounded was fine
Uyreu’s grandmother was waiting for Uyreu, sitting on the weaved couch at her daughter’s house. She was shocked when a large wolf came bursting through the doorway. Shock turned to confusion when her grandchild emerged from the bear-sized creature. Uyreu knelt crumpled on the hard black tile. Her grandmother ripped a blanket of the couch and wrapped it around the young werewolf. She led an exhausted Uyreu to her room. Early next morning, before her grandmother woke up, Uyreu crept out the door, along a familiar path, and into the woods where she had often sat when her parents weren’t watching her. She past the tree line with unwavering confidence. When she came to the table sized rock where she use to sit, she shed her clothes and tucked them into a crevice in the gray stone. She spent the next hour shifting, getting used to the wolf’s instincts and senses, and then shifting back, over and over until she was used to shifting. When she was a wolf, an hour and ten minutes after she ventured from her bed, she heard footsteps coming her way. She quickly shifted back to a human and changed into her now dirty clothes. When Uyreu turned toward the sound, she saw her grandmother emerging from the trees. “What are you doing out here?” Uyreu explained what she had been doing and why. If she had to be a werewolf, she was going to make the most out of it. She had started by learning how to properly shift back and forth. Her grandmother motioned for her to sit down. Confused, Uyreu sat down after her grandmother. Her grandmother explained why she had come to find Uyreu. Today, she was going with her grandmother to a town in America named Hush Hills, where her grandmother would leave her in the care of her Uncle Raksa. Uyreu agreed that it would be best to leave this town after what happened the other day. The grandmother got up and started for the house. Uyreu hesitated. She followed after giving one last glance at the trees around her. She headed after her grandmother with a new sense of beginning and adventure.
As Uyreu stepped through the airport doors, she was already begining to feel lonely for all she had lost back at home. Her grandmother paced briskly past her, calling, "Come along now, dear. If we don't hurry we will miss the plane." The girl followed the grandmother into the tram that will take them to their plane. The two plopped down into the seat at the front of the tram. When the tram pulled up to their station, Uyreu and her grandmother jumped out of their seat and walked as fast as they could to where they will board the plane. They got there just as the speakers announced that their plane was being boarded. About eight hours later, Uyreu and her grandmother where departing the plane that had taken them to new york. Uyreu stepped out of the airport, gasping at the sights, this was her first time in America. Her grandmother called back, " Uyreu, darling, come along, and we'll find this wonderfull train that we've heard so much about." Uyreu grinned and huried after her grandmother.
