CHOO. CHOO. CHOO. The train whistled its way along.
After countless days of seating in a cramped seat at the back of the Metra train, Kyosuke looked outside the small, compact window that gave tiny hints of light. This was his seventh move in the last forty years. Though he did not mind moving, the fact of leaving old memories behind killed him mentally. Holding his knees up to his chest while maintaining his balance on his seat, all Kyosuke could to was wait for the train to stop at his destination.
Checking the watch on his left hand, time seemed slow as for it was only turning to 12 noon. Sighing, he just gazed back out of the window again. Thankfully, all the humans were just talking with each other all quiet-like. This gave him time to think about questions that he would answer anyways. Being an unusual vampire had its perks, he knew for sure. With stories and tales of his kind only had them classified as living in Europe. Not only that, who would ever expect an Asian boy to be one? That one small fact let Kyosuke to be able to blend in normally with others.
Giving another two hours, he was still on the train, bored out of boredom.Feeling a sudden stop, the conductor bellowed through the speakers. "Now stooping at Hush Hills. I sincerely hope your traveling went well!" Groaning. Kyo rose up from his seat, grabbing his belongings. Well, what he could carry without sticking out like a sore thumb.
Upon exiting the train, the thing went away as fast as it had arrived. 'Go figure.' Putting his luggage on the ground, he started at his surroundings. A little cold, but nothing that he was afraid of. No person was here either, or so he thought. "Well, I guess I wasn't expecting a welcome committee, now was I?" Scratching his black hair, he gave a nervous laugh. "Let's just hope nothing bad happens," he gave with an inaudible sigh.

Elizabeth stood staring at the train as it came it. Usually people only came to the station to leave, or board it for another destination outside of Hush Hills. Elizabeth had just arrived here a few days ago, and her trip hadn’t ended. Her parents’ funeral was still a few days off, and Elizabeth had gone driving, trying to keep her mind off of the unfortunate circumstances that had brought her here. An empty expression filled her face. Empty are the faces of women in mourning when everything has been taken from them. The lyrics popped into her head. The sadness in the male voice that spoke them was filled with sadness. But they didn’t mean as much to her then as they did now. Elizabeth wished she could just walk away, get aboard the train. Indecision kept her rooted in place until it was too late and the train chugged its way noisily out of the station.
She snorted and shook her head, amazed at the ideas she came up with in this shocked state she was in. Movement out of the corner of her eye alerted her to an unusual humans’ presence. Elizabeth quickly scanned the crowd, looking for the being that had caught her eye. Exept this being wasn’t human at all. Vampire. The word was whispered in her mind. Elizabeth froze with fear. Even though her best friend was of the same species as the man that was exiting the train, Elizabeth had been warned that not all vampires were ‘vegetarian’. He could be a threat. I must tell Vara. She thought, but couldn’t move, struck with fear. Elizabeth just stood there staring, wide eyed. Never in a million years would she have thought there would be any other vampire in Hush Hills besides Vara.

Blankly staring nothing, Kyosuke shook his head and tried to think of something halfway decent. Staring and sitting around for nothing would get him no where in life...his very LONG life. A sweet aroma filled the air, familiar to him, but not a wanted scent. Slightly swerving his head to the one side, he noticed a human, a she by the looks of it. Apparently, the human girl did not want to look at him. I know vampires like blood, but she looks like she wants nothing to do with me. Plus, I ate right before the train ride...so, I'm full. Putting a finger to his lips, he stared her down out of the corner of his eye.
Maybe that wasn't his best idea. Thinking of something else to do, Kyosuke put a nervous smile on his face. " Good morning," he said, giving a small wave. Kyo blinked, and remembered what time it was. " Umm...I mean...Good afternoon!" Bowing his head in disappointment in himself, he just kept thinking to himself. I am a total idiot. I am a total idiot. I'll never make it in this town. Kyosuke gave a small whimper at his thoughts, no matter how mentally-challenged they were.
Feeling that air was a little tense, Kyosuke thought it would be best to give her a hand shake or something of the nature. To his unlucky beginning, he had forgotten that he had laid his suit case on the ground, prompting the great timing of him tripping and falling in front of the human girl. It's official, the town is going to laugh at me. Gettign up, Kyo brushed himself off and straightened his clothing. " I'm okay, I think..."

Elizabeth unfroze just at the last minute, but now it was too late. She cringed slightly when he stared back at her. Averting her eyes seemed the best thing to do, so she quickly glanced down at her feet. But before she broke eye contact, she noticed the nervous smile. This surprised her. She had never seen Vara nervous, only coolly confident, so she didn’t know if vampires even got nervous or not. A small smile broke out on her face. Maybe he was a ‘vegetarian’ too. The world may never know. She fidgeted in a human way before glancing back up at him. You’re being stupid E. Be polite and say hi back! Sheesh. He’s wouldn’t attack you in public anyways. Elizabeth scolded herself. This time Elizabeth kept his gaze, but it wasn’t staring, just politely keeping eye contact. She waved back, not catching his time of day error before he did. Her smile broke out wider.
“Good afterno…” Elizabeth didn’t have time to finish before he tripped and fall right in front of here. Giving a little yelp of surprise, Elizabeth jumped back so the man wouldn’t hit her on his downward decent to the concrete. She was about to lean down to give him a hand up, but she stopped herself, he was already back up anyways. Elizabeth gave him a sympathetic smile. This was extremely confusing moment. A vampire tripping and falling? She had never seen that before. He certainly was unusual. Maybe he was just good at playing human. Elizabeth craned her head around, trying to see if he scrapped himself when he fell. There wasn’t much she could do anyways, he would probably heal before she could whip out a band-aid and some Neosporin.
“Aare, are you alright?” Elizabeth asked, her speech faltered in her confusion. She was still inspecting him for injuries.

Tilting his head to the right and gazing at her, Kyosuke gave a small giggle-ish sound along with a peevish smile for no apparent reason. "Well, I've had many better days than this one probably." Crossing his arms in front of his chest, he looked at the rest of the small, quaint station. Best to make some small talk. She'll get even more suspicious of my clumsy behavior, and like I said before, think I am a a laughing-stock. I was never this idiotic when I was an actual human being. Frustrated over that fact, Kyosuke just shook his head.
Forming a tiny 'o' with his mouth, Kyosuke's eyes went back to her face. He gave a slight bow. " My name is Kyosuke. Or Kyo, for short. Some people call me by my middle name to. That's Rai, of course. And with that, friends call me Rai Rai. Childish, I know, but I deal with it nevertheless. And you are?" Covering his mouth with both hands, Kyo's mouth turned dry and tasteless. What an idiot! Saying all that without taking a single breath. You dumb...ball-sucking...retard! Why do you always do this!
Removing his hands hands from his mouth, Kyosuke just stood there, waiting for an answer like a stiff board. He was not going to make another stupid mistake again. Hopefully. Maybe. Who was he kidding since he knew the answer. I hope too much for a vampire. Mentally, he cried.

Elizabeth pursed her lips, her expression searching. He was a vampire, right? Her brown eyes flicked across his face searching for anything that might betray that he was human. Elizabeth pursed her lips more. He was certainly a vampire, but the most unusual vampire she had met. Then again her experienced with vampires were limited. I guess vampires have off days too. She had to clamp her mouth shut to keep from saying that out loud, and she almost did. It would probably be a bad idea to let him know she knew what he was.
Elizabeth listened with amusement while he rambled on about his name. A friendly smile curled her lips upward. It seemed he was called many things. People tried to force nicknames on her, like Liz, Lizzy and other ridiculous nick names. Elizabeth was just 'Elizabeth' or 'E'. Not very original, but she hated any other nickname for herself.
"Which do you prefer?" Elizabeth asked. He didn't seem to mind Rai, but she didn't know if that would annoy him. As if it matters. Like you are ever going to run across him. Elizabeth shifted this thought back, ignoring it.
"I'm Elizabeth by the way. She introduced herself. Elizabeth had reached out her hand half-way for a handshake before drawing back at the thought of shaking a strange vampire's hand. Crap. He probably noticed that. Stupid, stupid... She punished herself. Hoping to cover it up quickly, she asked him another question.
"How old are you? She kept her eyes intently riveted on his. This would be a rude thing to ask a human, but maybe not a vampire.

There was a quick, flicker of the girl's hand, as if she was going to give a hand shake. However, from the looks of it, she, Elizabeth as she called herself, was not ready. Shrugging it off, Kyosuke just gave a smile at her. He was in complete loss at why Elizabeth, a human girl, was being so nice to him. Serveral places he had been to, the 'emo' girls would cast him out and think he was a freak. On the other hand, the preppy, gaudy-fashioned girls would drag him to unwanted places, him escaping at the last moments possible.
Almost completely ignoring her first question, Kyosuke blinked and held his finger up to his lips. "Well, I guess...I dunno. I really never care." Croutching down in a odd manner, he scratched his head, not really wanting to continue onto the next question. It wasn't like age was a big issue, but it was the place and era it was. He wasn't 'born' into a normal vampire's life.
"My age..." Pausing for a brief moment, his pale lips closed shut. " Well, about that." From the feelings that she gave before, Elizabeth, in his eyes, knew something about him...and that he was already given away. " I'm thinking around 387. My birthplace was in Japan, so that would make it the Feudal Era there, correct?" He gave a huge grin, not caring. Even if she knew, Kyosuke decided that she would probably disconcern that fact.

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat, and tried to make up the lost time by beating rapidly, pounding in her chest. She looked at him warily, surprised that he would reveal himself so quickly. I thought humans weren't supposed to know about vampires. Why is he giving himself away?? Elizabeth had wanted him to know that she knew there was something different about him, but she thought he would just blow it over. Fear ran through her veins, in-spite of this, a faint smile was brought to her lips. It was one of the few emotions that she had felt, besides loss, since her parents died. Maybe she was waking up. Nothing like having a chat with a vampire to bring your spirits up. "Ah....." If Elizabeth could blush she would now. Her cheeks stayed stubbornly un-flushed. "Awwwwkkkward." She said, laughing shyly. The faint smile now matched his grin. Elizabeth rocked back and forth on her heels, stealing furtive glances up at him.

"What's so akward?" Pouting his lips, Kyosuke leaned his head backwards. " You...are such a strange girl." Strands of his black hair fell across his face. Blowing a bit of air to get them off, Kyosuke concentrated on the hair. Pffuut. Pffuut. After countless blowing in a matter of five seconds, he bowed his head and gave up. Using his fingers, Kyosuke got the strands away. Laughing, he closed his eyes and put his hands to his hips. " Sorry about that."
Even though it was not his time to ask, Kyosuke wanted to know why she hadn't asked him why he had come to Hush Hills anyways. And...she seemed nervous. Oh cheese muffins. I think...I made a big mistake about telling my age...and she probably did not think I was a vampire. What a total...Nevermind. In countless anime shows that he had seen, this would have been the perfect time for one of those falls or sweatdrops. Sighing, he just looked at her, with no questions in his head for the moment.

"Awkward because vampires don't usually throw the knowledge of their immortality at the nearest human." She said. One dark eyebrow arched in a curious expression. Her short, blonde hair swished slightly to the right as she cocked her head at him, staring. Her grin had faded as she talked, but was brought back when he fidgeted with his hair. And she was strange. Her grin widened slightly.
"Yeah. I know." It was a statement, but she decided to respond anyways. She was never one to pretend that she wasn't a bit odd. Her eyes wandered on him as she waited for him to be finished. She wasn't flirty, and didn't get turned on, but he was very handsome. Vampires tend to do that to people. Elizabeth smiled at her deeply ingrained female ways.
"It's alright. Take your time." Elizabeth's grin didn't falter this time. They stood in silence, she staring at him still. The silence wasn't awkward, but comfortable. What now?

NOM NOM NOM! You asked 'What now'.
******
"Well...umm...a LOT of vampires are like that. Secretive, anyways. And many vampires hate the fact that I am not of normal European hertiage and that I do not act normal. I guess I just have to deal with it." He blabbled about stuff to her statement on why he gave himself up. A reason for it was unknown to Kyosuke, but he just felt like saying it. Sitting on one of his taller suitcases, Kyosuke titled his head, blinking up at her. Twidling around with his fingers, he tried to keep the silence for a few minutes longer.
During this time, Kyosuke studied the physical aspects of Elizabeth. Not pervertedly, but a human-like way. Considereably, she was much younger than him. Well, no biggie there, despite the fact that she would grow old and he would not. Her hair was different. Maybe it gave him a hint that she was Irish? Kyosuke didn't know, but he doubted that it would matter anyways. After noticing a few more things about her, Kyosuke just stopped studying her. The silence was getting to his head now.
He broke the silence.
"I guess..." Kysouke wasn't sure if Elizabeth would like to know why he was here. Giving a huff, he decided to bluntly put it out. " I came to Hush Hills because I thought people here might understand me." His gaze from his brown eyes switched from Elizabeth's young, sweet human face to the hard, cold wooden boards below them both. " Sorry. I just had to blurt it out."

Elizabeth chuckled. He certainly wasn't a normal vampire. 1) Trips 2) Nervous 3) Fidgets 4) Isn't incredibly secretive, yeah, not normal. She continued to stare at his face, wondering if it was making him ill at ease. She wasn't incredibly good at reading faces, but she liked to examine faces. Unfortunately for her, it tended to weird people out a little. But he was amusing her with his rambling, and she met peoples faces when they amused her. Yeah, she was not exactly normal either.
She stiffened slightly when he inspected her. She caught eyes, and when a guy looked at her, it was usually lustful. It didn't seem to be the case here, so she relaxed. One of her pet peeves was when guys looked at her in a perverted sense. Especially since she didn't invite it with scanty clothing. Even now, in the summer, she wore jeans and a t-shirt that fit her well, but wasn't exactly tight.
He started babbling again, and she smiled again. He seemed to embarrass himself, he probably thought he seemed even more out of place than he already was. Elizabeth nodded understandingly, hoping to assure him that she didn't mind his rambling. She thought about her own reasons to why she was here. They were most likely more tragic than his were. Being a vampire though, many things can go wrong.
"Well, I hope you find what you're looking for." Elizabeth now glanced down shyly, as if just realizing she had been staring for a while.

Swaying back and forth on the suitcase, Kyosuke kept his balance with his heels. He had yet to see another train hit the station. Smiling gently, he looked at the tracks. Old, rusty, but still effective. In some fashion, it was like older humans. No matter how much they aged, some could still work just as good. And why was he thinking about human's and their effeciency again. No idea.
" I hope I do to." A pinkish-rose color came to his cheeks. Elizabeth was a nice human in his eyes. Not worrying about him being a vampire and what not. She made him feel like a special newcomer. From him. New, and an outcast. She, a oldie, and accepted, maybe? Bowing down his head, he wished that the color in his normally pale white skin wouldn't show. Kyosuke just stared at the floor boards again. " Well...umm..." He could think of no more to say. Time to leave? Time to make friends? Time to stay?
"What...what happens now?" His laugh echoed through the empty station.

Elizabeth followed his gaze to the train tracks. He had an unusual expression on his face. I wonder what he's thinking about. How can someone look so tenderly at railroad tracks unless their thinking of something else? Elizabeth had thought this before but, he really was strange. She would enjoy getting to know him. If their interest in each other lasted pass the station. Elizabeth didn't know what he thought about her, but she would like to think he found her interesting also. She shrugged inwardly. I guess I'll find out. Another kind smile graced her lips at his indecision. People amused her.
"Haha, Your guess is as good as mine. You got some place to stay?" Elizabeth didn't ask because she planned on giving him a place to stay, she just asked out of curiousity. Hmm. I wonder what Vara would think about him. Vara was usually better at reading people that Elizabeth was. Craning her head around, Elizabeth noticed for the first time the station was empty. Doesn't seem like anyone is picking him up. Wait, empty. No witnesses. Elizabeth glanced over at him again, trying to not catch his attention with it, panic flashed for a instant. He hasn't indicated that he would hurt me, or even that he was thirsty. I think I'm safe enough.
"Uhh... Are you walking to... Wherever your going?" Elizabeth asked, cocking her head to the side again in a questioning stare. Yes, once again, she stared at his face. She usually only stared at someone this long is she was comfortable and vise versa. Elizabeth didn't usually like to make people feel uncomfortable, usually. Staring often made people feel uncomfortable. Especially when they didn't know her well.

Knocking his thick skull, Kyosuke let him stand upwards again. The question. That question she had just asked. Formally, he would have one by now, but in this case, it was somewhat harder. Kyosuke knew that he was winging it when he came to this town. Maybe it was for the best if he told her, but then, she might feel sorry for him and let him stay with her. No. Then people would think would want...Ugh...No...I don't want people thinking I want to do a little something in bed with her. Nasty. At the thought he got squeemish. He decided against the fact of making it sound like he was desperate.
"Well, I was going to look for a place once I got into town." He held a finger up to his lips again. Chapped and cracking from his cold body temperature. "I doubt that it will be that hard for me. I think. I have enough money stored up. With my supposed age. Plus, the people in the bank would be suspicious if I put a lot of money in my savings." Giving a wink to her, Kyosuke noticed himself about a foot away from her face. Tempting. Very tempting. Letting his thoughts get the better of him, Kyosuke did the unthinkable. With a peaceful smile. Lifting his one index finger up. Was it too late for Elizabeth as he knew? Probably.
"Poke!"
