Elizabeth shrugged when her friend turned down the seat. Her body relaxed, and took up slightly more space on the bench. Elizabeth was watching Nix after he splatted the mosquito. There was a tiny red smear on his palm, but it soon disappeared when he whipped his hand on his shorts. Her eyes snapped back from his hand to his face as she shifted position, then, once he was done, her eyes again turned out to gaze over the lake. Nix hadn’t started speaking yet, so Elizabeth figured he was thinking. From what Elizabeth could tell, it was pretty easy to tell vamps from humans, once you knew what to look for. However, she didn’t think it was the same with werewolves. Nix didn’t look different from other humans. Not really. She had noticed something slightly different about him, but she just thought it was from not seeing him ‘all grown up’.
What Nix said next confirmed her thoughts. There didn’t seem to be a lot of visible difference between a werewolf and a human. Though what the boy said about werewolves being hairier brought a chuckle from Elizabeth. A black and white image of a hair covered half-human-half-wolf monster filled her mind. I wonder if werewolves have to shave more often then… Elizabeth wondered. She looked down at her own legs, which hadn’t been shaved in a few days. Ahh the blessings of having blonde hair and somewhat dark skin. Suddenly a hovering black dot appeared at the edge of her vision. Elizabeth froze, her eyes sliding toward the small blemish. It was a mosquito. Elizabeth’s hands darted out, slapping together where she thought the mosquito was. Her aim had been correct, for a black smudge was on her palm when she risked a peek between her hands. A grimace appeared on her face.
”Well as much as I’d love to be devoured by mosquitoes… I’m goin inside.” Elizabeth said, standing. She then turned and trudged through the sand up to the lakehouse.
