Heinrich smiled at the dogs. Everyone seemed to have small dogs nowadays, and the fact Twlight had dogs that were not half rat was a pleasent change.
"Three, you say? Two males and a female eh?" He sighed. Figured. It might have been years since he last spoke to one, but even so, he had about enough with male vampires. After all, it was a male that killed his friend and his leader. And it were males that made up the majority of the SS Paranormal Division, and Hitler's guard. Females were hard to come by then. Hopefully, more would come. Or rather, the males would die. . Maybe that relic of a flamethrower would do what it was originally used for. God bless German engineering.
"Well, I'll have to stay away from the males then. They et on my nerves. Plus," he paused, notng the questioning outlook on Twilight's face. I try to cling to my humanity as much as I can. I liked women as a human. I try to keep that as close to me as possible."

Twilight found it odd that he smiled at her pets. He didn’t grimace, or act hostilely like most vampires did when they met her ‘family’. Guess you learn something new everyday, Twilight though to herself, shrugging internally. The best and fastest way to get Twilight to hate you for life, is threaten her animals. Twilight sometimes even carried this protectiveness over animals onto other’s animals. More than one animal abuser had been on her menu.
She had her head cocked ever so slightly as she listened to him talk. Figures, female crazy vampire. Had to add that trait in. Yes, Drake was officially the most un-vampire-like vampire she had met. She didn’t know if vampires were usually attracted to the other sex, not being around many. They couldn’t re-produce, as far as she knew. Twilight shrugged off the unpleasant thought, not wanting to respond to his comments also. She might as well make a new topic while they were sitting there.
”So Drake, you planning to stay in Hush Hills long?” Twilight ask casually, curious if she would have another permanent vampire in her town.

Heinrich shrugged.
"Thats a matter of debate. Right now, I'm looking to settle, get away from a slayer filled life, so I can rest easy knowing I don't have to kill someone else every few days. It gets annoying. Of course, if I find this place isn't for me, I'll just sell my place and move on.
So in a word, maybe. I'm not sure. He paused for a minute, then continued. "I guess it really comes down to acceptance. If the other immortals don't like my being here, I'll leave too."
Which was about the truth of it.
Heinrich smiled a bit. It was obvious that Twilight was suprised about his charactiristics. He couldn't blame her. A vampire who stayed away frm males, liked dogs, and was friendly with werewolves? He'd be suprised too. But he had good reason. After all, 700 years gives you plenty of time to change. And if you worked with the SS Paranormal Division, you had plenty of reason to become nice with the wolfmen. And get pissed at males. As for dogs, he had a rather nice dog as a boy.
Still. Wierd.

Twilight repressed a grimace. Sure, he was nice, friendly, and so far not a threat, but regardless, he was still a vampire. She wouldn’t be able to relax completely until all the other immortals were gone, or aligned with her beyond a doubt. When the immortals first started arriving, she had been hoping they were just passing through. The more she got to know the new comers though, the more it seemed that they hoped to pick up permanent residence here. At least, as permanent as and immortal living amongst mortals. There was still a chance that Drakes presence could be a comfort instead of a burden though. Twilight eyed him curiously for a moment, but then stopped. It was a fool plan anyways.
”Yes, I do believe that you’ll be safe from slayers here… I think…” Twilight said, remembering a curious looking man’s scent near her house. He was new, and she was slightly suspicious of him. She had other things to worry about then a way-word human who might suspect them. There would always be those few humans that thought they had a chance against her and her pack.
”Well, I will warn you though, there’s a new man in town that acts suspicious. I think he’s keeping tabs on me.” Twilight added with a patient sigh and an exaggerated eye-roll. A teasing smile came back on her lips. Slayers were mostly a joke to her.

Heinrich frowned.
You'll be safe and I think were two different things.
"Suspicous, you say? Like, how so? Wait." Heinrich frowned even more so. "Did you get his name, at all? And what he does for a living?"
The likelyhood of the man being who Heinrich thought was little, but with the amount of activity he heard of, and previous problems back in the thirties and forties.....

She gave an unconcerned shrug.
”Didn’t get a name or profession. I’ve just seen him around. You know, small towns, it’s easy to spot a new comer.” Twilight smirked slightly. The odd habits of small towns amused her. She was able to enjoy them most because the attentions weren’t focused on her. Though she wasn’t born in this small town, she was accepted here, an old timer. The reason for her sped up acceptance was unknown to her, but she wasn’t about to complain.
”Nothing we can’t handle, I’m sure.” Twilight said. She didn’t know if he would include himself in the ‘we’, so she left that open, instead of just saying ‘the pack’. The smirk turned to a more serious expression after the slight pause in her speech.
”I’ll be keeping tabs on him, watching him just in case. And of course I’ll get an earful of gossip about this new stranger.” Twilight’s smirk returned. Usually the hair salon was a prime spot for female gossip, and a place she avoided, but women still seemed to be able to gossip in any setting. She rolled her eyes at the memories of the endless chattering of the women folk.

Hmm.
This worried Heinrich more then he dared let on. If it was them, Twilight, himself, and the other Immortals would be in danger. And the humans. They would generally kill civilians without remorse. If it killed their targets, it didn't matter. Take the Trio, for example. About two hundred innocents killed to get at them.
I'm sure we can.
"Either way, keep me posted, or have one of the lesser werewolves keep me up to date. If he's what he could be, I'd have an almost personal vendetta against him. Almost." He paused. This topic had reached its end.
"... Forgive my changing the subject, but I heard you were the local vet. Would you happen to know the best place to fid a little furry friend, eh?" Drake added a grin on to this. Keep the flow going smoothly. He knew his fearful expression had shown through, even as momentarily as it was.

Twilight nodded, a promise that she would keep him posted on this man. He didn’t seem to have a preference to who gave him messages. However, she would personally keep him posted. Besides, Twilight didn’t know how well her pack would respond to this appearance of an alliance between the two. It appeared that he would be agreeable with an alliance. This relationship should progress in a very interesting manner.
It seemed that every time Drake said something, it always had a habit of surprising her. A vampire… wanting a pet? I wonder how well that would go… Twilight’s brow furrowed in concentration, going through a list of animals that might make a good companion for the vampire. None really came to mind, but maybe he already had something in mind.
”Well… what kind of pet were you wanting? I know of a lot of shelters that have a wide range of animals available. Or if you were wanting something specific, I’m sure I can find some rescue groups around… well within the state at least.” Twilight said thoughtfully. She took getting a new pet very seriously. Too many pets had been bought on impulse and ended up in shelters because of it. Of Twilight’s pet peeves, people buying animals on impulse were near the top of the list.

Heinrich smiled. It was obvious Twilight was suprised by him. A vamp who hates males, like animals, and tries to make friends with werewolves? Suspicious. But seven hundred years of life made you think about it, and serving alongside other immortals during war changed your perspective.
As for pets, Heinrich had a multitude of animals as a child. Dogs, in particular he liked. Them and cats.
"This may come as a suprise, but preferably a dog. If not a dog, then a cat. Now, don't look at me like I'm crazy. I have a dog in Germany, but he doesn't like traveling so I left him with my servant."

Eyeing him thoughtfully, Twilight considered him getting a dog. She didn’t know how well it would go over, but they could try. Ugh, She had used ‘they’ again. He can find a dog himself, she thought with a slightly annoyed tone. Someone asks for your help with picking out a dog, and you turn them away? Wow Twilight, you sure are dedicated to animals. The tone was bitter this time, as she argued with herself. But now though, her mind was made up.
”A dog it is then. Have any particular breed in mind? What are you wanting in a dog?” Twilight questioned. Breed was very important, and getting the wrong breed for a person can mean the difference between a lifelong companion, to a short trip to the shelter. Twilight herself had experience with many different breeds, owning many herself. She was confident that she could find the right breed for him.
As they talked, Thor’s growl had quieted to silence, and Cheyene, usually the first to greet a newcomer, had quietly sidled up to Heinrich, her nose bumped his leg once for petting. Her body was still low, tail tucked, but she was trying to make friends. Besides, her alpha was calm around him, so he couldn’t be all that bad.

Heinrich smiled at Cheyene, and kneeled down to pet her.
"What kind? Easy, a black lab. I had one as a kid. Since then, there have been many others, but all in all, the black labs always seemed to get alon with me the best out of any breed. And thats something, considering most other ones always seem to be like yours at first. Suspicious, and reluctant to do much other then growl in my direction at first." He frowned.
"It makes me sad, actually. Being a vampire has its perks....but sometimes....One wishes he could be mortal again. Easier to trust...Easier to be trusted."This last part he mumbled, but it was there.

Well that would be easy. There was a lab rescue a couple hours from Hush Hills, in Winston Salem. Who named a town Winston Salem anyways? Then again her own town did have an odd name… Twilight wrenched herself from the odd though, focusing again on Labrador Retrievers.
”There is a Labrador rescue a couple of hours from here, I’ve heard good things about them.” Twilight said. Her features turned sympathetic as she listened and stared at Drank.
”I already have an application that has been accepted. You might want to let the dog stay with me, until he or she gets used to your presence.” Twilight added softly. Wow. She actually felt bad for the bloodsucker. So many surprises today, they were testing her strength to the fullest. Hopefully she wasn’t already starting to buckle. Feeling compassionate for a vampire was definitely something that would concern her… But maybe this wasn’t such a disaster. How was she much different from he?

Drake smiled a bit at the mention of the shelter, and even more at Twilight's offer. "Really? You'd do that? That would be a great idea. After all, not every dog will warm up to me as fast as yours do." He turned his gaze down to Cheyene, and smiled before standing again.
Twilight was quite the werewolf. Even if she was..well...a werewolf! Usually, it took anywhere from a few weeks to months for one to warm up to him. And already she was. Although, it was possible it was because she had alot of experiences with vamps....or he just annoyed her so much she was nice to get him away. Hmm

Twilight stood when he did. And when Twilight stood, all of Twilight’s pack stood as well. Thor hugged close to her side, almost touching her. The other three made their way over to the gate entrance, ready to leave. Twilight watched them go before turning back to Heinrich.
“Yes, it would be no trouble at all. I trust you will contact me when you are ready to visit a shelter?” Twilight said, the last sentence more of a question than a statement. She didn’t know how exactly he might contact her though. Sure, if he wandered her neighborhood, he would stumble upon her scent. Twilight cringed inwardly at the thought of trading numbers with the vampire, but she was committed now. If that’s how he wished to get in touch with her, she would endure it. Twilight smiled at Heinrich.
Ha! What an uproar it will cause if any of the females here see me giving him my number. Vet visits will probably double, just to get a share of the gossip, Twilight thought, almost laughing out loud at the thought. Small town women could turn any structure into a gossip house, be it hair salon, or veterinary office. However amusing it might be now though, it would test Twilight’s nerves and test how long she could stand brutal torture. Most, if not all of the women in Hush Hills knew that she was single, and it would no doubt be hinted that maybe that handsome man she chatted with in the dog park might make a good match. Twilight could picture the torments now. Honey you have no idea.

Drake grinned. Right now, he was being give a decision. He could potentially cause quite a stir around the town by asking for her number.
Or, he could do it the way he preferred, and just find her himself.
Of course, he chose the later. HE wasn't an ass. "No problem. I will, don't worry."
Besides, gossip travelled in small towns a bit too fast, to the wrong people. He didn't need it seeming like he already had a girl. Although....it might make it easier to get one. Although, the problem with that meant it would be harder to meet the female vamp.
Damn, decisions suck sometimes. I wish life was easier sometimes....
