A glare shot out at Elizabeth from beneath the brow of the illamuzed Vara. True, she didn't intend on attepting to cover up what she was from this man but she didn't intend on making it a light hearted matter either. There were very few things about Elizabeth that aggrivated Vara. But what her friend did now sent her through the roof. She couldn't really blame Elizabeth for not foreseeing the real danger in her position, never the less her friends growing laughter etched into Vara's mood. An exasperated sigh escaped her cherry lips.
" I'm not in much of mood for a fight, slayer." the comment was casual but sharp, "I would also like it if you could keep your mouth shut and stay your distastance from Elizabeth."
The triffles of today began to wear on Vara, this made her a bit cranky. "If you could excuse us, please." Once again, she was dragging Elizabeth out of a sticky situation. How typical, she thought nonchalantly.

An astonished look was plastered across Maverick's face. "What? A slayer? You misrepresent me, miss. I am an observer! CIA Intel sent me to investigate reports of 'paranormal' activity, and I found it. Never in my years of research has someone misidentified me in such a...wait, nevermind, the Vampiric Trio..they misidentified me, and I nearly died...but other then that...
I would never attempt violence...unprovoked.
Concerning you Elizebeth, of course I can leave you alone, although such a blatent disregard for evidence will make my superiors kill me.
All of this was said with the utmost sincerity. Not a glimmer of a lie was noticible...hopefully. Maverick added one last bit.
"And sorry for the threat...I got carried away, sorry." Bullcrap. Maverick meant every word. He had no problem ending the lives of everyone in the town if thats what it came down too. In fact, Ravenwood promised him support should the problems become great. No, he'd keep tabs on both Elizebeth and this...Vara. It deserved to die. It corrupted all those it came in contact with...
Another time. Avoding conflict was a must now.

There were a few immediate problems with this "Maverick" that Vara eventually would have to attend to. The first, was that he was a slayer, just like all slayers. He may have been observing but as Vara knew all too well, all observing must come to an end. With the few brushes she had had with these maddened humans she did know one thing. They weren't about to let any vampire they come in contact with, no matter how tame, live to see their next meal.
That was the issue with these mortals, they're all about their lies and violence. And the fact that Mavorick was a trained, if not excellent liar created the catagory of the second problem that Vara had with him. By not just his actions but the inflections in his words could she tell that he meant very little of what he said and, just like her, wanted to avoid any exsisting conflict. But of course it was only a matter of time. Yes, she knew his kind. At one point it could have been a great possibility to fool her but not now, and especially not today. First priority, she thought silently, get Elizabeth out of harms way. Elizabeth was a prime candidate for a provoked fight. She was feisty and very human, there was little chance that she would think of the consequences before acting in an impulsive manner. Vara had dropped that human instict long ago and knew that she'd never want to pick up the habbit again.
As she hurried Elizabeth a long in front of her, she took one quick glance back. A dangerous glare sent a message, Vara hoped, he would recieve with open arms, we'll finish this later.

Grinning, Maverick shrugged and winked at the retreating Vara, with a obvious air of satisfaction around him. Any time, little girl. That was the obvious message conveyed by the stare.
He turned, and put his wallet with the badge back in his back pocket, the sheen of metal from his loaded handgun glinting directly at her.
She was a vampire. She would die.
But later.
