Drake signed. The few days he'd been in town were quite eventful. Meeting two werewolves, seeing the town, it was tireing stuff.
So, now he found his favorite spot, he relaxed. After reviewing Hush Hills, Drake decieded the park was by far the best part of the town. Just enough people during the day, enough it wasn't lonely, few enough it was peaceful.
Currently, the 700 year old bloodsucker was thinking about his state of being. Vampirism. So much fun. Or so Drake had thought. At first, Drake and his friends had been upset. Then, later on, they were overjoyed to find they were immortal. Even better, even more girls then usual hung around them. It wasn't till the 1930's everything went downhill, Drake and his friends split between the countries they supported. They all died, he survived, and came out all the wiser for it.
Yes, there were benifits. Didn't have to breathe, didn't have to eat, didn't half to drink. There was the craving for blood, but after years f combative control, he got passed that. Mostly, Drake only saw the worse parts. No one trusted him, immortals least of all. Any relationships he had over the years were destroyed by constant politics and rivalry. Being a man that was a missing part of a fascist regime generally meant he was also at risk.
But hey, what did it matter now? Laying here, on the grass, Drake was relaxed. Most everyone else stayed away from him, but he did notice the more than occassional glance from a female towards him. Another blessing, and/or curse. Women seemed to fall for him in droves, and it really was hard to keep a lasting relationship with somone destinedto die WAY before you were.
Right now, however, under this tree, in this shade, with this gentle breeze, Baron Heinrich Draco von Carstien closed his mind to the world around him, smiling.
"What do you mean, man? How can the American's be that close?" "My friend, I don't know. I really don't. Are you going to tell him?" "No. He'll burn me for it. Get Corporal Straut from Reich 1 to do it." "Alright." -Heinrich Drake and unknown Vampire
There was little time to ask the question why, yet she asked herself anyways. Why had Vara come out here, really? Was it pure curiosity? A matter of Elizabeth's safety? Or did she want to simply converse with someone of the same species?
For sanity's sake she did not answer any of those questions.
The weather wasn't too terrible today, a little overcast. The sun only peeked through occasionally and there was a light breeze. Strangely enough Vara loved the wind. Although it forced her hair to twist and turn in ways that translated into knots and tangles for her to work out later, she enjoyed it immensely. There was just something about walking against a force greater than yourself and feeling it's unbridled power flow smoothly across cold skin that attracted her. Most humans she knew disliked the wind. It was a nuisance to them, she couldn't understand that. At times Vara feared that she had fallen so deep into vampirism that she lost all touch with anything that still connected her to man. Through the years she had begun to hate herself a little less and appreciate the differentiation between her and the world. That made her question her own motives quite often.
Drake was lying silently in the grass looking as graceful and as beautiful as when she had met him. No surprise there. Such a peaceful aurora sifted through the air around him that seemed a bit misplaced. She envied him immediately. In a town like this there was no room for her to be at peace with anything. Tranquility had been long forgotten.
Vara could only guess that he already sensed her presence. Her entrance into the park was muted and swift but that meant little to a vampire. She took it upon herself to take a seat to the left of Drake on a lush patch of grass nearly inches away from him.
His senses picked her up as soon as she set foot within the park, a much different presence than the rest of the current park goers. He figured it was Vara, as any other vampire would have registered quite differently, and he could smell a werewolf from across town. A minute later his guess was proven true, as he scent began drifting towards him from where she walked, followed immediately by his subconscious thoughts connecting her presence to his memory.
Drake didn't react, instead choosing to simply stay as he was, and see what would happen. If she was here for anything BUT him, he knew Vara wouldn't particularly enjoy it if he interrupted her. He'd feel the same way.
However, it seemed that Vara was walking his way. And, considering there wasn't much of interest on his side of the park, Drake assumed he was her destination.
Yet again, his guess was proven true, when she walked right up to him.
Bloody hell. Again, with the musical voice and the intoxicating scent! Sooner or later, Drake was going to become sick of females too, thanks to her.
"Come here often?"
Drake sat up, propping himself up by his hands. "I suppose you could say that."
ooc:// no problem. I'm half asleep, and so I didn't notice, lol.
"What do you mean, man? How can the American's be that close?" "My friend, I don't know. I really don't. Are you going to tell him?" "No. He'll burn me for it. Get Corporal Straut from Reich 1 to do it." "Alright." -Heinrich Drake and unknown Vampire
Nonchalantly, Vara leaned back on her palms taking in the sky. Through inhaling she captured a deep breath of the early evening's air. There the fresh air sat within her lungs as her white eye lids slowly slid over their dark blue hosts. Her current state identically resembled his serene one. Vara let no emotion leak from its origin. Any notion to show her feelings were crushed quickly.
After she had forced herself to relax she listened to the dwindling sounds of people moving about the park. It was starting to get dark and most of the residents living near by were heading into their homes. She presumed it was dinner time for the humans. Vara had promised herself before coming here that she would get straight to the point with him but it was turning out to be such a nice night and she desperately wanted to allow herself to enjoy at least one of the few casual conversations that she had had in a long time. With out realizing it the question that she had pondered for hours slipped.
He shrugged. "Honestly, no. I've had my run ins with some particularly bad types, but other than that? They're fine. Why do you ask?" Drake figured he knew why. Having noticed his calm demeanor amongst the mortals, he figured Vara was puzzled as to why he had no problem around them. Other than spending years around them, he'd learned to like them thanks to the mistakes of many of his fellows. Drake had watched many a vampire die, or at least become shunned, thanks to their anti-everything personality.
Humans were more than walking buffets, like others thought. Also, they weren't all evil slayers hell-bent on ridding the world of immortals, like even more thought. Nothing special about them, yet nothing inherently bad about them.
And besides, humans were so down to earth, most times. There were too many immortals walking around making a fuss out of everything, or just being plain annoying. Like other vampiric males, damn their eternal souls more-so than they already are....

Vara really thought about what he had said. Yes, she'd come across those 'bad' types before so she knew how it felt to resist the burn. It used to be a challenge for her to contend with the searing fire that raged through her body. The symptom of desire followed closely behind its mate effecting not just the mind and the throat but the heart. . . It was a great accomplishment for any vampire to harness any control over their instincts.
"Oh, I was only wondering. . .You're quite laid back around them and I'm really just trying to look out for Elizabeth's safety."
Plus, I'm curious, she silently admitted to herself. Why wasn't she feeling any aggression this towards this man? Odd.
"It doesn't help my nerves to come to find that a strange vampire has moved in next door." With that finally said she looked squarely at him scrutinizing his appearance and demeanor. Generally, Vara had never been at ease around other immortals but this Drake allowed her nerves to finally settle. It was troubling to be both at peace and disturbed at the same time.

Drake smiled. Of course. If a vampire is as calm as he, then that same vampire has the potential to be ruthless, and uncaring of other beings. In her position, he'd be curious too. Hell, he'd be close to violent, especially if my apparent best friend was human.
He thought a minute about here second comment. Her inclusion of the word of strange was interesting. He was a vampire. That didn't make him strange. Was it his calm demeanor? He doubted that would constitute strange. Intriguing, perhaps, but strange?
"Fair enough. I'd do the same for any of my friends if another vampire moved in on my territory.

A swift movement placed Vara on her side, her left hand used as a cradle for her head. Her nose crinckled slightly at his first comment. How he so easily empathized with her. Vara's eyes rolled.
"I'm so glad that you understand." Sarcasm. " I don't see many vampires that poses the power of self control is all." Her right hand gliding through the air in mock disreguard waved away the last half of the conversation. A new question sprouted in her mind. Maybe an offensive one. She knew that if a vampire inquired of her feeding habits things would get a bit touchy. But she was too curious for courtesy.
"What is your dietary preference?" Slyly worded. She praised herself.
