The night was dark. It was always dark but it seemed more so tonight than most. Over the years of living in Ohio Vara had grown very close with Elizabeth and her family. Although Vara had morned with Elizabeth over the death of her parents it had never really sunk in that they were really and actually gone until tonight. Losing the ones that you hold closest to your heart was always something that Vara could identify with for she had lost her parents when she was seventeen.

Given the circumstances it felt like tonight was not only dark but very cold. The wind was bitter and howling at the creeping trees. In the cemetery the head stones lay frozen in place abandoning their stringy shadows in the night. Vara wore black tonight in honor of the dead of whom she was there to visit. As she walked through the endless rows of tombstones the wind swept her dark hair to and fro like a dance in the night. Once she had located the graves she had been seeking she sat down amongst the soft cold grass and bowed her head to the wind.
